If you are driving along Interstate 49 and passing through Natchitoches, French Market Express is the best place to stop.
Part gas station, part convenience store, part bakery, and part restaurant, it’s safe to say this is truly your one-stop-shop for all your needs.
The convenience store side has all your usual take-out items, like you’d find at a normal gas station.
There is even a souvenir shop section where you can buy souvenirs and souvenirs.
As you head to the cashier, you’ll find one of the most unusual surprises: a bakery!
French Market Express offers a wide range of sweet treats to give you that much-needed sugar rush to continue your road trip.
They’re famous for their Louisiana Yam Cake, and it’s a must.
Based on a family recipe from the owner, this iconic cake is available in many different sizes and can even be ordered ahead.
But don’t stock up on sweets just yet, as you might be swayed by the salty side of the store.
Not only does French Market Express run a full bakery, but they also serve daily hot dishes as well as Louisiana classics like po’boys, gumbo, and more.
